Glossary of British Terms: boot

boot (n):

1. A type of footwear that extends up the ankle and perhaps the knee or hip.

“It’s likely to be rugged terrain – probably a good idea wear boots.”

2. A compartment for storage in an automobile, usually in the back.

“My arms are full, would you be a dear and open the boot?”

I know most of you read Tessasaurus through a feed reader, but if you get the chance, check out the new site, because it’s awesome. Not only does it look prettier (no more weird formatting!), it also has “Next” and “Previous” links at the bottom so you can keep paging through posts all the way back to the beginning. Many many thanks to Dan who set up the wordpress, helped me migrate all the posts (and comments!), tuned all the formating, and made the header image look pretty.
